thoughtfully and taking into account special considerations for the engine, then it should be OK. From what I understand, the biggest problems with the rotary were/are overheating and running too lean. For that reason, when modding a rotary, one should take into account fuel needs and cooling needs. I have known more than a few people with modded rx-7's (mostly the FC/2nd gen) who have not blown seals every 10K miles. They drive the car hard, but not to the point of being ragged. Even with the Z, if you take it to the rev limiter every time you shift, the abuse is bound to take its toll on the engine.
